About Us
The Casas de Taipa are a set of four typical Alentejo houses we offer our guests to feel like they live in genuine Alentejo. Casa do Compadre, Casa da Comadre, Casa do Lêntéjo and Casa dos Vizinhos are located in the parish of São Pedro do Corval , the biggest center of pottery from Portugal .
The contact with the villagers and the rustic look of the houses allow our visitors to live the Alentejo in its purest form ...

Houses in Alentejo have one floor. The construction is made with walls of brick or stucco, which is a material formed by wet ground compressed between collapsible timber sidewalls, removed after drying.
These walls are based on shale foundations that extend to the ground level. The walls are whitewashed with colorful footer, usually in blue or ocher.
The windows are small, to keep the house cool . The roof is gabled, with lining of reeds or wood to isolate the heat. The houses usually have a large chimney
